Thousands of people are expected to join in the fun at this year’s Christmas lights switch-on at Beverley’s Flemingate centre.

This year’s night of celebration is on Friday, November, 22, and will be packed with exciting entertainment, a Nordic tipi bar and a breath-taking firework finale.

Highlights will include two high-energy shows by Little Chix – Britain’s best and longest-running Little Mix tribute act – who will bring the band’s top hits and choreographed dance routines to the stage.

Elsa, Anna and Olaf from the Disney film Frozen will also be among the attractions at the exciting event. The much-loved characters will perform a medley of songs from the soundtrack – perfectly timed for the release of the long-awaited sequel which hits the big screen at Parkway Cinema on the same day!

Hosted by Beverley FM with breakfast presenter Alex Dunn and Sunday afternoon presenter Adam Smith, the festive evening will also feature Christmas classics by the All For One Choir and entertainment by the Parkway Panto cast from Talegate Theatre’s “Sleeping Beauty”, who are performing at the Parkway Cinema theatre stage over the festive season.

Cosy Nordic tipi bar Bartipi is making a return to Flemingate for a third year. The festive pop-up features a roaring fire pit, festive lighting, cosy seating and a selection of festive tipples.

Jo Bridgeman, Flemingate Marketing and Events Manager, said: “Flemingate’s Christmas lights switch-on will be a wonderful evening – we’ve got Frozen-themed entertainment, an amazing Little Mix tribute band and the cast of Sleeping Beauty performing for us.

“Little Chix are recognised as the best Little Mix tribute act and they’ll go down a storm – even the band follow them on social media!

“Rounding the evening off will be a fabulous fireworks display lasting around seven minutes, immediately followed by a grand finale performance by Little Chix – a great way to mark the countdown to Christmas.

“We’re also very happy to welcome Bartipi’s Nordic tipi back for a third year. It’s always a big hit over the Christmas period.”

Beverley Westwood Lions have even arranged a special visit from Mr & Mrs Claus on their sleigh!

The Flemingate Christmas event begins at 5pm and is due to close at 8pm. The lights switch-on is at 7.15pm, immediately followed by the seven-minute fireworks display.

Home to a host of retailers, Flemingate is the perfect place to start your Christmas shopping, whilst enjoying a bite to eat and drink with friends and family in the bars, cafes and restaurants.

East Riding College is also staying open late with a variety of refreshments and activities.

Drivers are being warned that Armstrong Way will be closed to traffic between 6.15pm and 7.45pm.

People coming to the event by car can use Flemingate’s 500-space car park for just £1 for three hours.
