Roll up, roll up for a fun-filled half term as Beverley’s Flemingate centre gets ready to host a circus extravaganza packed with interactive entertainment for all ages.
Running from Tuesday, October 29 to Saturday, November 2, the family-friendly programme of magic, illusion, amazing sights, thrills and laughs will make it a half term to remember with activities including circus skills workshops, magic shows, traditional circus attractions and street performances.
One of the highlights of the week is Dr Phantasma’s Amazing Sideshow, featuring weird and wonderful acts including contortionist Miss Elastina and the Pain-Proof Man performing incredible and thrilling stunts with fire, chainsaws, swords and more!
The exciting half term line-up also includes a traditional Punch and Judy show, a Victorian Flea Circus and the Tent of Mystery, featuring jaw-dropping illusions by a close-up magician.
Visitors of all ages will be able to try their hand at walking the tightrope, riding a unicycle, juggling or learning magic tricks to amaze their friends!
Jo Bridgeman, Flemingate’s Marketing and Events Manager, said: “We’ve gone all out to make it a half term to remember with a really exciting line-up of circus and magic-themed activities.
“There are some wonderful acts and performers joining us, ranging from magicians and contortionists to fire breathers and traditional Barnum-style sideshows, so there is something to suit all ages, every day.
“Our activities will run from 10am to 3pm from Tuesday to Friday, October 29-November 1, and 11am to 4pm on Saturday, November 2. There will be something fun and exciting for visitors to enjoy at whatever time they drop by. We’ll post all the details on social media so people don’t miss out.
“We’re all really looking forward to it – and it’s the perfect way to entertain the whole family during the half-term break!”
Flemingate features big-name retail and leisure brands and local independents, as well as being home to East Riding College’s Beverley campus, an 80-bed Premier Inn hotel, a six-screen digital cinema, Parkway, and the Inflata Nation inflatable theme park.

Roll Up! Take part in Magic Carpet Theatre’s Circus Avago – starring YOU!
Try juggling, unicycling, balance bikes, diablo, plate spinning and loads more in this action-packed event for all ages. It’s your chance to be a circus star, and maybe even walk the tightrope! Come down to the grass area all day and have a go!
Wednesday, October 30, 10am – 3pm
Tent of Mystery
Brilliant magic performed by an award-winning, close-up magician. Lots of comedy and audience participation – great entertainment for all ages in an eye-catching mini tent with sky banner and lights.
Magic Workshop
An opportunity to learn a magic trick to amaze and amuse your friends and family. Find the magic tents near THECREATIVELAB and InflataNation.

Traditional Punch and Judy

A traditional Punch and Judy show performed by one of our brilliant Punch Professors provides great interactive popular entertainment for children and grown-ups. Adults will enjoy watching the children’s reactions and remember watching Mr Punch from their childhood. Watch out for the Crocodile! Come along to the grassed area and take a seat!
Sock Puppet Workshop, 10am – 3pm
An opportunity to make and decorate your own sock puppet to take home and put on your own show with friends and family. Everything provided. Find the tent between Costa and Starbucks.

Itching to perform for YOU!
Step right up for an enchanting, very funny, attraction re-creating all the fun of a Victorian Flea Circus with a touch of humbug, bunkum and comedy. FREE 30min show every hour. Find the tent outside Entertainer/Debenhams.
Alena Toppleover – Circus, clowning and Hula-Hooping fun! 10am – 3pm
She’s fun, quirky and circus-y, with physical comedy. Join Alena on the grass area to have Hula hoop fun!
