An American-style smokehouse and sports bar is to open at the Flemingate centre this summer, boosting the appeal of the fast-growing retail and leisure destination.
Centre Manager Graham Tait today welcomed news that the venue is to join the ever-expanding line up at Flemingate.
He said: “We’re delighted that this exciting new venue is coming to Flemingate. FirePit Smokehouse & Sports Bar will add another distinctive element to the centre and to Beverley as a whole.
“It will enhance even further Flemingate’s appeal as a retail and leisure destination and will be yet another reason for people to come to Beverley, as there is nothing like it in the town or for many miles around.”
Potting Shed Trading Ltd, the company behind Beverley’s successful Potting Shed Bar and Gardens, plans to transform a 7,670 sq ft ground-floor unit into the exciting new venue with a bold trans-Atlantic theme.
FirePit Smokehouse & Sports Bar will have distinctive Americana décor, combining urban industrial fittings with bright neon signage, classic car parts and some unique wow factors. Among its trademark features will be a custom-built Airstream-style aluminium caravan specially designed to create a cool private dining booth.
Allan Harper, CEO of Potting Shed Trading Ltd, said the company had been delighted by the response from customers to the smokehouse theme at its first site in Bingley, West Yorkshire, and it hoped to roll out the brand further.
Mr Harper said: “It has been so well received already, sitting in town alongside our Potting Shed Bar and Gardens, which gave us confidence in our decision that the two very different styles complement each other perfectly.
“We feel the American décor and menu work very well and it’s something totally new for Beverley which we’re confident customers will really enjoy.”
Recent months have seen a raft of openings at the popular Flemingate centre, most recently new menswear fashion brand VERB, and CreativeLab, a social enterprise providing retail space for artists. Next month will see franchise Anytime Fitness opens its doors as Beverley’s first 24-hour fitness club.
Mr Tait added: “This latest investment builds on the success of Potting Shed Bar and Gardens close to the Flemingate centre and is the next chapter in the development of a fast-growing, independent Yorkshire business.
“We believe Flemingate is the perfect location for this new concept and that the other businesses within the centre will benefit from the trade and footfall FirePit Smokehouse & Sports Bar will generate.”
Developed and owned by Hull-based regeneration company Wykeland Group, the Flemingate development is Beverley’s largest ever regeneration scheme.
Flemingate has a host of major high street names such as Debenhams, H&M, River Island, Peacocks, Superdrug, The Entertainer and Wilko as well as the multi-brand retailer Outfit. These are complemented by high-quality independents such as jeweller Guest and Philips, homewares retailer Baytree Interiors and fashion brand VERB.
