Beverley’s Flemingate centre has claimed gold for a fourth consecutive year in the coveted Yorkshire in Bloom Awards.

Flemingate scooped the Gold Award in the Large Businesses – Including Large Hotels/Shopping Centres/ Caravan Sites category.

The award continues a winning streak for Flemingate, which took the Gold Award in the same category last year as well as claiming Gold in the Shopping Centres and Retail Parks category in the 2016 and 2017 competitions.

Flemingate was praised for its colourful hanging baskets, healthy rooftop beehives and continued work with local schools and communities by judges at an awards ceremony at York Racecourse.

The historic market town of Beverley was awarded Gold in the Best Overall Large Town category with judges highlighting positive partnerships with the Revolution Horticultural team, civic trust and local allotments, and nearby schools.

Graham Tait, Flemingate Centre Manager, said: “This is the fourth year we’ve claimed Gold in the Yorkshire in Bloom awards and we’re absolutely delighted!

“We’re also thrilled that Beverley won in the Best Overall Large Town category.”
